Have you ever heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit?
Well, it's a myth!
Many 'Gurus' tell us, all it takes is just 21 days to form a habit but actually scientific research shows, on average it takes 66 days but depending on the person and circumstances it's anywhere between 18 and 254 days!!
Habits To Change Your life
We all have habits and routines, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it can be a limiting thing. The route you take to work for instance, I'm sure we've all set off for work and suddenly found yourself there, not having noticed the journey at all!
That's because we were on autopilot, carrying out a routine we've done hundreds of times before. We were mindlessly carrying out the task.
NOT a good way to behave
Consider how many tasks during the day you carry out by habit, not really thinking about them and you'll be amazed at how little we consciously think about the way we go about our work.
In other words we are acting ‘mindlessly’ and that's NOT a good way to behave, especially if you want to achieve better results than you previously have.
Things will have to change!
Act Differently
'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get different results!'
Albert Einstein
The only way to achieve different results, is to act differently, change the habits and routines you've been performing to date and that takes active participation. You must consciously mix up your routines and change the way you do things.
It's a great exercise to do, to decide to do things differently…
Vary your route to the office or a meeting
Have a cup of tea rather than coffee
Write a blog or follow up a prospect rather than checking emails
Change the layout of your office or switch things around on your desk
Whatever it is, just do things differently and see how much more you notice and think differently about things you'd previously taken for granted.
The first step to achieving different results is to start to do different things!
These are habits to change your life!
Enjoy your day...
